• Good morning Ms. Ovalle Melo and all the audience.

And I appreciate doing this activity as it allows me to learn more English.

To begin with, I must put the issue in context, since the product that I have chosen to export in the international
negotiation course is the pineapple.
This activity or exercise is based on the process of exporting pineapples from Colombia to the United States and is
based on the theme of pineapples.

The selected article presents a brief introduction to the pineapple growing areas of Colombia par excellence.

In it we can see that:

1.Colombia produces several types of pineapple

2. Usually we can see that the Colombian pineapple is used a lot for medicine

3. Pineapple cultivation is booming and each time the number of hectares is increasing.
Within the steps to export, it is necessary to check if the company is ready to export, identify markets with
opportunity, know the needs of the client and offer specialized services are some of the aspects that must be taken
into account when undertaking an export plan of services.
These are sections of the article in which we can see relevant information on the subject and also here below I will be
leaving the link to the original page.

1.Evaluate if your company is ready to export.

• Your company must have provided a service that has already been sold successfully in the domestic market.
• Your company should have prepared an international marketing plan with defined strategies and goals.
• Must have sufficient production capacity to serve the export market.
• Must have sufficient financial resources to actively support the marketing of its services in the export market.
• The management of the company must be committed to the development of the export market and has the interest and
capacity to commit personnel, time and resources to the process.

2. Identify opportunities and set clear objectives.

One of the first steps of the export process for the services sector is to identify in which markets there are opportunities
for the product / service that is to be commercialized, and for this it is necessary to set specific objectives.

3. Make use of the advantages of Colombia's trade agreements.

The Colombia/USA FTA is another very important factor to take into account when exporting our product.
In order to export more, alliances are fundamental. Colombia has an advantage in this regard, as it is part of the Pacific
Alliance, an integration mechanism that opens the doors of the countries of this important trade bloc to different markets
in the region.
4. Understanding the needs of the client is the key

Factors such as estimation of demand, purchasing habits, preferred distribution channels, buyers, users, influencers,
demographics and psychographics of users, levels of consumption and the purchasing process are crucial to know market
preferences and reach precisely the final client.

5. Position the brand

The positioning of a brand is the place where you want to be located. It refers more to the future than to the present, to
what the company or the product, a motivation stimulus to purchase in the short term, establishing in the long term the
image of the brand / product / service.

6. Identify the applicable regulation in the country of destination of your export

Review the tax treatment that will be given to your service in the destination country of the export.
For cross-border trade, take into account the regulation on withholding tax on the provision of services.
Regarding the issue of the physical presence of people, keep in mind the applicable regulations: licenses, registration and
authorizations to provide the service.
In addition, immigration regulation, visas and entry permits.
Special schemes

Identify if your economic activity can take advantage of any of the special regimes provided by the
Government to promote foreign trade in services.
Sectors such as finance, transportation and insurance with export opportunities Pro Colombia has
identified export opportunities.
There is a wonderful opportunity to climb in this specialty coffee race because if we are adopting new
technologies that add value to the export product, then our product portfolio will be better valued.

Among the main clients to which Colombia exports its pineapple are: the United States, Canada, Europe
and the Netherlands.

Colombia is strengthening its participation in the global market, as well as to the delight of lovers of the
specialty.

Colombia has a promising future with pineapple and export barriers are increasingly simplified to
facilitate the process for small, medium and large exporters of the same.

Good afternoon and have a nice day!
