Water Sanitation and Service in Bos Plu

Village, Cambodia
Jennifer Wu, Christien Laible, Jessica Lee, and Samuel Scibetta
What does service mean to you?

“I do have deep faith in the enormous

goodwill of the…volunteer. However
his good faith can usually be explained
by an abysmal lack of intuitive
delicacy.”
Ivan Illich
“These trips make you more aware of how other people
have to live. You can’t watch news programs about the
Third World and not feel more strongly connected; you
can’t separate yourself from what they’re dealing with
anymore.”
– Ver Beek

“What we must do now is increase the proportion of

humans who know that they can cause change.”
- Everyone a Changemaker (Bill Drayton)
Goals
• To understand the process of community development through
firsthand experience in designing a service project and using resources
available to us as HKIS students
• To thoroughly understand the conditions that inhibit third world
communities from development
• To establish and sustain a relationship between HKIS and the Bos
Plu Community
