This document analyzes the cost of locally available feed ingredients used for catfish farming in Nigeria. Data was collected from 32 farms across 4 regions on the amounts and costs of key ingredients like soybean, maize, and brewers. Principal component analysis identified two principal components that accounted for 65.78% of the total variation among farms. The first component separated farms based on their use of soybean and maize versus minerals, while the second separated farms based on their use of brewers. The analysis provides insight into the different feeding strategies used across regions.

M98330059 Instructor: Dr Sha Mao INTRODUCTION Catfish is the most common fish cultured in Nigeria
As any aquaculture business, the feed accounts for a
large part in terms of production costs
Locallyavailable feed ingredients from plant has
been suggested to lower the feed cost The amount of money spent on feed ingredients used for producing a bag (100 kg) of catfish feed was determined
Ingredients : soybean , brewer, maize and others including
minerals, vitamins premix
Study area: four regions of Nigeria A, B, C,D
Data from 32 farms were collected
