Definition of BULLYING

Any act that causes damage to a victim’s psyche and/or emotional well-
being. A unwanted physical contact between the bully and the victim
like punching, pushing, shoving, kicking, slapping, tickling, headlocks,
inflicting school pranks, teasing, fighting and the use of available objects
as weapons. (Sonnie)
Types of BULLYING

 Physical Bullying- includes hitting, kicking, tripping, pinching and


pushing or damaging property. Physical bullying causes both short
term and long term damage.
 Verbal Bullying- includes name calling, insults, teasing, intimidation,
homophobic or racist remarks, or verbal abuse. While verbal bullying
can start off harmless, it can escalate to levels which start affecting
the individual target.
Types of BULLYING

 Social Bullying- sometimes referred to as covert bullying, is often


harder to recognize and can be carried out behind the bullied
person’s back. It is designed to hard someone’s social reputation
and/or cause humiliation.
 Cyber Bullying- can happen at any time. It can be in public or in
private and sometimes only known to the target and the person
bullying.

Law related to
BULLYING
REPUBLIC ACT NO. 10627
An act requiring all elementary and
secondary schools to adopt policies to
prevent and address the acts of bullying in
their institutions.
It requires schools to adopt policies to
address the existence of bullying in their
respective institutions.
