Confined Splice Technique

construction plans. Other factors such as high winds, heavy rain,
temperature, and fog can come into play and affect a construction
timeline. The unpredictability of weather can’t be planned around
which can make it a major reason some projects get pushed back[1].

• Construction Time Duration – Idle Time

• Another area that needs improvement is the accreditation of

BACKGROUND
OF THE STUDY
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
• Errors made during construction can include adding improper amounts of water to
the concrete mix, inadequate consolidation, and improper curing can cause distress
and deterioration of the concrete. Proper mix design, placement, and curing of the
concrete, as well as an experienced contractor are essential to prevent construction
errors from occurring [3].

• With the rapid development of building & construction industry worldwide

especially in developed countries, there has been a significant trend to
predominantly use prefabrication prefinished & precast construction methods due to
economy in construction cost, manpower and time[5].

• Problems can arise with the sealing of precast concrete joints. Over time, joints can
separate from one another which can compromise and weaken the structure.[4]
Mostly precast connections are widely use in large structures.
Objective
OBJECTIVE

• To provide a better precast moment resisting frame connections by
eliminating the use of Corbels and temporary shoring.

• To Introduce the Precast Skeletal Frame System in Small Structures.

• To Reduce the time frame in constructing structural frame using pre-

cast skeletal frame system using confine splice method.

• Evaluate the connectivity of the tension bars from the lap slice which
will control the dimension of the wet joint.
Significance
of the Study
Significance of the Study

This study aims to introduce a new structural system for small

structures and residentials buildings using precast concrete skeletal
frame.

The study also aims to aid the common problem in the construction of
reinforced concrete structure such as quality control, construction time
delay and other factors. Once this new method of construction is
introduced it would provide a better and faster way of constructing
vertical structures.
Scope &
Delimitations
Scope & Delimitations

• The scope of this study is to develop a structural frame connection for

small structures using precast confined splice connection method &
understand the different behavior of the connection using computer
generated software's and cyclic loading device.

• If other factors and variables are not available for declaration, other
data would be considered in this literature using these references:
