OBJECTIVE

Our objective is to collectivize the inputs obtained from the above journals and
factor in extra measures for safety and ease of access. Plan as follows :
• The security layer for the system is the first or outermost, which is a keypad on the door of
the room. Which takes a 4 digit code as an input.
• If the user enters the correct code the door opens and it displays a message on the LCD.
• If the code entered is wrong 3 consecutive times the owner will be notified via email and
the keypad will display an error message and will not take any more inputs.
MOTIVATION

• With the advancements in IoT being multifold, simplification of the daily life of human
becomes possible through performing common operations without active intervention
from the same.

• A living room automation system that involves a node red based system that controls
various devices present in the room with an added security feature not only brings
about ease of life, but contact less operation of devices in today’s world also prevents
spread of disease through these surfaces.

• This project involves the usage of multiple sensors for the control of the various
applications that will be controlled remotrely upon a person entering the room.

WORKING
The project consists of 4 operations

• We have planned to make our system more secured by adding a keypad on the door of the room. Which takes a
4 digit code as an input. If the user enters the correct code the door opens and it displays an message on the
LCD. If the code entered is wrong for 3 consecutive times the owner will be notified and the keypad will
display an error message and will not take any more inputs.

• An inner room door that will open if anyone comes within 40cm of it for 2 seconds. If anyone is still within
40cm, then the door will stay open for 2 more seconds. If not, then the door will automatically close. For this
operation, we use an Ultrasonic Sensor for measuring distance and Servo motor for controlling the motions of
the door.

• If and when there is any movement detected in the room, 4 lights are automatically turned on. If movement
ceases to exist, the lights turn off after a brief time. For this purpose, we use a PIR for detecting movement
connected to an LED as a Light source.

• When the temperature of the room exceeds 20 degrees celsius, a fan is turned on. When temperature drops
below this value, the fan will is turned off. For this we have used a temperature sensor LM35 for detecting
temperature, and a motor that aids in operating the fan.
