 Locus of control: The degree to which people
believe they are in control of their own fates.

 Internals Individuals who believe that they


control their destinies.

 Externals Individuals who believe that their lives


are controlled by outside forces, such as luck or

 As a research, 79 managers worked on simulated


exercises that required them to make hiring decisions.
59 High risk-taking managers made more rapid
decisions and used less information in making their
choices than did the low risk-taking managers. 17

 Authoritarianism

 According to Adorno's theory, a few elements of the Authoritarian

personality type are:

 Blind commitment to conventional beliefs about right and wrong

 Respect for submission to acknowledged authority; Belief in aggression toward

those who do not subscribe to conventional thinking, or who are different

A negative view of people in general - i.e. the belief that people would all lie,

cheat or steal if given the opportunity

A need for strong leadership which displays uncompromising power
