Karnofsky Performance Scale

 A standard way of measuring the ability of cancer patients to

perform ordinary tasks

 Karnofsky Performance Status may be used to :

1. Quantify cancer patients general well-being and activities of
daily life.
2. Determine whether they can receive chemotheraphy,
whether dose adjustment is necessary, and as a measure
for the required intensity of palliative care.
3. Measure quality of life.
4. Compare effectiveness of different therapies
5. Determine a patient's prognosis
