UNIVERSITY OF NORTHERN
PHILIPPINES

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY:
• To determine the point of view of undergraduates
nursing student in view of the fact that majority of
nursing students in UNP are currently attending
online lectures,virtual duty, and performing return
demonstration via online.
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY:
• The competency of the students in the University of
Northern Philippines have mixed results but are in
tandem with each other saying that majority of
students in the University that they are proficient in
the Nursing Practice. This can be translated on the
fundamentals of nursing, primarily patient care.
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY:
• One thing to note about today’s educational system
is the adaptation of students to do classes via video
call because of the infamous COVID-19 virus that
spread throughout the world slowly buy steadily,
these classes can either be synchronous or
asynchronous. Asynchronous classes can occur
when the instructor won’t be joining or having a
meeting with the students because of either
problem with the Wi-Fi, have something come up
suddenly, etc. This really affects the nursing
students’ competencies during classes especially
return demonstration.
OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY:
• Determine the satisfaction and evaluate the academic
performance of the nursing student during the new normal
education that was established due to the COVID-19
pandemic
Specifically aims to answer the following questions;
1. How competent are they with their nursing skills,
2. How wide is their knowledge in regards to their nursing
knowledge,
3. How satisfied are the nursing student with the new
learning system and lastly,
4. What are the pros and cons regarding the new normal
education.
METHODOLOGY:
Research Design: Descriptive evaluation research
Population of the study: This study involve 20
participants per section from 2nd-4th year nursing
students at the University of Northern Philippines.
Data Gathering Equipments: The researcher will
make use of checklist/questionnaire using google
forms containing questions that assess their
competency, knowledge, the level of satisfaction with
the new learning system and determine the pros and
cons of new normal education.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY:
• This study allows nursing students to evaluate the current
level of nursing competency during the new normal
education for nursing students at the University of
Northern Philippines
• The study will serve as learning paradigm to nursing
educators to absorb caring input into nursing education on
a continuous basis.
