“LET’S MARK

THE
BOUNDARIES”
1. HOW ARE EARTHQUAKE DISTRIBUTED ON THE
MAP?

 Earthquakes occur most commonly where

the gigantic tectonics plates that forms the
Earth’s crust meet and rub together.
2. WHERE ARE THEY LOCATED?

 Earthquakes can strike any location at any

time, but history shows they occur in the same
general patterns year after year, principally in
three large zones of the earth.
3. WHERE ARE PLATES WITH NO
EARTHQUAKE?

 Thereare places that cannot

experience earthquake.
4. WHY IS IT IMPORTANT FOR US TO IDENTIFY AREA
WHICH ARE PRONE TO EARTHQUAKE?

 To be aware where the earthquake always

occurs and to know how much damage it, and
also important to identify for the safety of the
community.
5. HOW ARE VOLCANOES DISTRIBUTED?
 Volcanoes are not randomly distributed.
Volcanoes are formed along convergent
boundaries wherein two plates collide, denser
plate will sub ducts beneath the other and move
towards the mantle. When the sub ducted plate
reaches the mantle, it melts and turns into a
magma which rise up on the surface creating
Volcanoes.
6. WHERE ARE THEY LOCATED?

 Volcanoes are found mostly in the

Pacific Ring of Fire.
7. BASED ON THE MAP, MENTION A COUNTRY THAT IS
UNLIKELY OR EXPERIENCE A VOLCANIC ERUPTION?

 Brazilis one country that is

unlikely or experience any
volcanic eruption.
8. COMPARE THE LOCATION OF MAJORITY OF EARTHQUAKE EPICENTER’S
WITH THE LOCATION OF VOLCANOES AROUND THE WORLD?

 Majority of the earthquake’s epicenter lies mostly on

the tectonic plates boundaries. Volcanoes and
earthquakes are both produced from the divergent
and convergent movement of the tectonic plate
boundaries. The best association to this is the pacific
ring of fire wherein, most of the earthquake
epicenters are located on the pacific plate on the ring
of volcanoes.
9. HOW WILL YOU RELATE THE DISTRIBUTION OF MOUNTAIN
RANGES WITH THE DISTRIBUTION OF EARTHQUAKE
EPICENTERS AND VOLCANOES?

 Areas and volcanoes have earthquake epicenters

because volcanic activity resulted shaking of ground
known as volcanic earthquake. The distribution of
earthquake epicenters, volcanos and mountain
ranges serves as the basis of scientist in dividing the
earth’s lithosphere into several segments called
plates.
10. WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE BASIS OF SCIENTIST IN
DIVIDING THE EARTH’S LITHOSPHERE ITO SEVERAL PLATES?

 Scientist
did not divide the plates, they are
a natural part of this planets and
development.
