FREDDY MERCURY

 Freddie Mercury was born on September 5, 1946 in Zanzibar

(Tanzania) under the name of Farrokh Bulsara. He died on
November 24, 1991 in London, at just 45 years old.
 He was son of Bomi and Jer Bulsara, Freddie Mercury spent
most of his childhood in British India.
 He studied at the Sant Peters boarding school, about 80
kilometers from Bombay (India). One of his teachers
recommended him to take piano lessons when he was only
seven years old. He was part of the school choir. In 1958, he
formed a rock group with four more friends, called Hectics,
which he kept until 1962.
In 1969, Mercury got his degree in graphic design and joined the
blues band Ibex, later called Wreckage. However, the group soon
disintegrated.
In 1970, Mercury was part of Smile with Taylor and May, deciding
to change the name to Queen. A year later bassist John Deacon
joined the band, thus beginning the trajectory of one of the
greatest rock bands in history.
In 1973, the group signed an agreement with two major record
labels and they released their first album: Queen. The album was
critically acclaimed. Since then, Queen has only gained followers.
Bohemian Rhapsody, released in 1975, it was the first song in
which the essence of Queen was seen and it arrived worldwide.
In 1986, queen toured the most important stages of the world with the magic tour.
In 1987 mercury recorded with the Catalan soprano Montserrat Caballé a song where opera and
rock merged. The song was elevated to anthem status when it was chosen as the official theme
for the 1992 Barcelona Olympic games.
