What is Discovery
Approach?
→Is a teaching atrategy which
aims to assist the student in
finding solutions or answer to a
problem or attaining a learning
objective through self-discovery.
Discovery learning approach is a
teaching approach that requires mental
processes, such as observing, measuring,
classifying, guessing, explaining, and
drawing conclusions. This approach puts
students in their own learning, developing
creativity in solving problems. Students are
truly placed as subjects who are learning,
students are faced with situations he is free
to investigate and draw conclusions.
Discovery Learning Method is
an active, hands-on style of
learning, originated by Jerome
Bruner in the 1960s. Bruner
emphasized that we should be
“learning by doing.” With this
method, students actively
participate instead of passively
receiving knowledge.
The Discovery Learning Method is
a constructivist theory, meaning it
is based on the idea that students
construct their own understanding
and knowledge of the world
through experiencing things and
reflecting on those experiences.
