Introduction

 Small group learning is an educational approach


that focuses on individuals learning in small
groups and is distinguished from learning climate
and organizational learning.
 It is also described as a team-based approach to
learning where students work together towards
shared learning objectives.
Methods of teaching in small group learning

 Maths through games and puzzles
Student seminar

 The word seminar is derived from the latin word


‘seminarium’meaning “Seed plot”.
 A seminar is a form of academic instruction conducted
in an educational institution.
 It has the function of bringing together class students
for recurring meetings, focusing each time on sime
particular subject in which everyone present is
requested actively participate.
Advantages of seminar

 Seminar give the wealth of knowledge presented on a


particular topic.
 Seminars are beneficial for those who have difficulty in
learning in class room setup.
 Friendship developed with like participants.
 It helps to vecome a effective communicator.
 It helps to collect all points with facts and figures from
credivle sources in scientific way.
Group discussion

 A Group of participants are made to discuss on a topic


or subject for a limited time and then assessed
accordingly.
 In group discussion the class is divided into certain
homogeneous groups according to their interests and
aptitudes, capacities and abilities to do some activities.
Advantages of group discussion:

 It helps to shed away shyness.


 It stimulate to think in a different new way.
 It is a platform for people to present their ideas.
 It helps the candidates to understand his/her strengths
and weakness.
Do’s in group discussion:

 Be a good leader.
 Rich content with good subject knowledge.
 Body gestures.
 Eye contact with all participants.
 Think we’ll before you speak.
 Be a good listener.
Don’ts in group discussion:

 No aggressive move.
 Don’t crisscross on your ideas.
 Don’t repeat the point.
 Don’t give up .
Mixed ability grouping:

 As the title clearly indicates, “mixed ability grouping” refers


to grouping students of abilities.
 Usually this type of grouping occurs when the group consist
of students with different ages with one or two year spans.
 It also helps students to understand each other better by
increasing interaction among students who may not
otherwise get the opportunity to interact.
Teaching methods of mixed ability grouping:

 Create ongoing activities.


 Use level specific material.

Advantages of Using Games

to more formal activities, greater
learning can occur through games due
to the increased between students.

children to operate at different levels
of thinking and to learn from each
other.
