MINHAJ ISLAMIC SYLLABUS FOR SCHOOLS

The ‘Islam for Kids’ Islamic Studies series was produced and developed by second and third
generation British scholars, who are trained classically in the traditional Islamic sciences,
alongside QTS (Qualified Teaching Status) accredited teachers.

The ‘Islam for Kids’ Islamic Studies series has been split into six levels. It is recommended to
start level one at the age of 5 when the child starts year one at primary school and to complete
level 6 by the age of 11 when the child completes his or her primary school education.

In the first two years of the syllabus, a more visual approach has been adopted with the text
being kept at a minimum. 

The second stage of the syllabus begins at level three when the child reaches seven years of
age. From this level onwards, a more formal approach to learning is adopted. Many of the
concepts in the first stage are revisited, but instead of being largely pictorial, they are more text-
based .

In the third stage of the syllabus, which consists of levels five and six, the series shifts to a
more text-heavy approach. This is to encourage the child to learn independently and practice
their key reading and comprehension skills.

By the end of this syllabus, the child will have acquired the essential Islamic knowledge (Fard
`Ayn) for them to be able to live their life as a practising Muslim. This Islamic Studies series is an
excellent resource for parents to lay the foundation for their child’s learning.

In preparation of this series, authentic and reliable content was taken

from the works of great scholars who represent Islamic orthodoxy.
Some of the books that were consulted in the creation of the content
were:
 Imam ash-Shurunbulali’s Nur al-Idah and its commentary, Maraqi al-
Falah
Imam al-Laqqani’s Jawharah at-Tawhid
Shaykh Salih Farfur’s ar-Risalah an-Nafi`ah fi `Ilm at-Tawhid
Imam Ibn Hisham’s as-Sirah an-Nabawiyyah (including its English
rendition by Martin Lings)
Imam Ibn Kathir’s al-Bidayah wa an-Nihayah
and the many hadith collections compiled by the founder of Minhaj-
ul-Quran, Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul Qadri
The contents of these books have been adapted for children at an age
appropriate level while keeping in consideration the specific needs and
requirements of Western Muslims.  We are eager to hear from the
wider community and to gain feedback regarding the series.

• Minhaj Publications can print both English and Urdu language syllabus till Level -3 to start with.
•The syllabus can be made compulsory in all MQII affiliated schools.
•For promotional purpose, free sample copies and Demo lectures can be given to various
schools where MQII has contacts.
•Trainers( Male and Female) who can dedicate 3-4 hours daily for each school need to be
selected.
• The trainers can be given a salary of Rs.8000-10,000 either by school management or by local
Minhaj committee in case the school is in a poor-dominated area.
• The syllabus can be taught in Minhaj ul Quran affiliated schools, Schools willing to teach
Islamic studies on daily basis and in weekend Islamic classes for school going children.
•The syllabus can also be taught in non-residential madrassahs where school going children
learn Deeniyat studies.
• Syllabus can also be taught during school vacation time as a 1-month course.
• One lecture per class on weekly basis can be planned so that we get close to 30 lectures per
class in a year.
• Exams can be planned twice a year to test the knowledge of students and toppers can be
awarded as a form of encouragement.
• The syllabus can be complemented with a e-learning Islamic studies website, animation based
moral stories ,exhibitions on various subjects, quiz competitions, etc. to build an attachment of
students with local Minhaj committee.
• The syllabus can be translated in various local languages going forward to increase the reach.
