ENGINE

An engine or motor is a machine designed to convert one form of

energy into mechanical energy.
 Heat engines convert heat into work via various thermodynamic
processes. The internal combustion engine is perhaps the most
common example of a heat engine, in which heat from the
combustion of a fuel causes rapid pressurisation of the gaseous
combustion products in the combustion chamber, causing them to
expand and drive a piston, which turns a crankshaft.
 Electric motors convert electrical energy into mechanical motion,
pneumatic motors use compressed air, and clockwork motors in
wind-up toys use elastic energy. In biological systems, molecular
motors, like myosins in muscles, use chemical energy to create
forces and ultimately motion.
How does engine work?

The engine partially converts the energy from the

combustion to work. The engine consists of a fixed
cylinder and a moving piston. The expanding
combustion gases push the piston, which in turn
rotates the crankshaft. Ultimately, through a system
of gears in the powertrain, this motion drives the
vehicle’s wheels.
PRINCIPLE OF ENGINE:
Heat engines work on the principle of the ideal gas
law.
DUMP TRUCK (TIPPER)
WHAT IS DUMP TRUCK?

A dump truck, known also as a dumper truck, dump trailer, dumper trailer,
dump lorry or dumper lorry or a dumper for short, is used for transporting
materials (such as sand, gravel, or demolition waste) for construction as well
as coal.

A typical dump truck is equipped with an open-box bed, which is hinged at

the rear and equipped with hydraulic rams to lift the front, allowing the
material in the bed to be deposited ("dumped") on the ground behind the
truck at the site of delivery. In the UK, Australia, South Africa and India the
term applies to off-road construction plants only and the road vehicle is
known as a tip lorry, tipper lorry (UK, India), tipper truck, tip truck, tip
trailer or tipper trailer or simply a tipper

6-SPEED

6-SPEED

6-speed transmissions are manual synchromesh transmissions suitable for vehicles with
engines generating maximum 900 N m torque.

The transmission has six forward gears and one reverse gear.

All the gears on the main shaft, except reverse, have synchromesh engagement.

FEATURES:

Designed for higher reliability

Highest center distance among all 6-speed transmissions
Boosted synchronizer for enhanced shift performance
Eaton patented EFM-H lining on synchronizers for extended life and smooth shifting
Rod and cable selection/shift compatibility
6-SPEED
9-SPEED

9-speed transmissions are also manual synchromesh transmissions suitable for vehicles with engines generating
maximum 1100 N m torque.

The transmission is divided into two sections:

1.Main Section
2. Range Change Section
The main section consists of five forward gears including crawler gear and one reverse gear.
The range change section provides High or Low range output through an epicyclic reduction gear.

All the gears on the main shaft, except reverse and crawler, have synchromesh engagement,.
The Range change, effected compressed air, is also synchronized.

FEATURES:
High input torque capacity - 1100 Nm
Overall ratio coverage ensures better startability and maneuverability
Customized for demanding applications
Pneumatic Power Assist available as option
High reduction ratio crawler
Eaton patented EFM-H lining on synchronizers for extended life and smooth shifting

USE OF TIPPER(DUMP TRUCK)

In road construction projects, there is a requirement of removal of earth all

along the earmarked site till the requisite depth followed by laying of multiple
layers of materials such as ‘good earth’, Granular sub base, Macadam layers
and bitumen mixes.
 Tippers are used for the transport of all these materials in road construction
(road-site to dump and burrow or plant to road-site).
In dams, hydropower projects and canal work, nature of work involved is
essentially removal and relocation of earth on the sites to obtain the desired
profile. This earth movement is done again largely by tippers.
 In mining projects, tippers are again used to transport the ‘over burden’
material as well as the underlying mined ore from the blast site till the
conveyor/dump yard.
 Tippers are also used in the road transportation of material such as coal once
it is mined from the mines in cases where the lead distance to the end site is
too long for conveyors and/or rail transport is not an option.
