Inertia of direction

• The inability of a body to change its direction of motion by itself is called inertia
of direction.
• In our day-to-day life, we come across many examples regarding inertia of
direction. Some are very sharp, while some are not much experienced:
1.When the car in which we are sitting, initially we oppose its direction by tilting
ourselves to the opposite side of the motion of the car naturally due to the inertia of
our body.
2.When we rotate a stone very fast in the air and then suddenly release it, it flies
tangentially due to its inertia.
3.When you move out of a moving train, you will observe that initially you will also
go in the direction as the train is going.
