Triangle Congruence Postulates
SAS (Side-Angle-Side) Congruence Postulate
If the two a
T r i ng
sides l e
and san included angle of one triangle are congruent
to the corresponding two sides and the included angle of another
triangle, then the triangles are congruent.
If 𝑀𝐴 ≅ 𝑇𝐼 , ∠M ≅ ∠T, 𝑀𝑅 ≅ 𝑇𝑁
Then ΔMAR ≅ ΔTIN by SAS Congruence Postulate
The triangles below illustrate SAS Congruence.

9
ASA (Angle-Side-Angle) Congruence Postulate
If the two angles and the included side of one triangle are
Tri
congruenta n
tog l
thee s
cor-responding two angles and an included
side of another triangle, then the triangles are congruent.
If ∠A ≅ ∠E, 𝐽𝐴 ≅ 𝑀𝐸 , ∠J ≅ ∠M, then ΔJAY ≅ ΔMEL
The triangles below illustrate ASA Congruence.

10
SSS (Side-Side-Side) Congruence Postulate
If the threegsides
l e s of one triangle are congruent to the
T ri a n
three sides of another triangle, then the triangles are
congruent.
If EC ≅ BP , 𝐸𝑆 ≅ 𝐵𝐽 , 𝐶𝑆 ≅ 𝑃𝐽 , then ΔESC ≅ ΔBJP.
The triangles below illustrates SSS Congruence

Directions: Corresponding congruent
parts are marked. Indicate the
additional corresponding parts needed
to make the triangles congruent by
using the specified congruence
postulates.

Counter examples to show that we cannot always draw
congruent triangles using any three measurements.

14
Direction: Identify if the following pair of triangles are congruent by SAS, ASA or
SSS.

15
APPLICATION

Give me some practical application of

congruence nowadays in your real life
situation.
16
1. What is the least amount of information we
need to know to make sure that two triangles are
congruent?.”
2. State the SSS Postulate, SAS Postulate and
ASA Postulate.
3. State the given conditions to consider for two
triangles to be congruent by SAS Postulate.
17
EVALUATION

Give 3 pairs of triangles where each

pair has 2 pairs of corresponding
similarly marked parts, i.e., a pair of
side and adjacent angle ( SAS) , a pair
of angle and included angle (SAA)
and 3 congruent sides (SSS).
18
Assignment:
Answer the following questions:
1. How can you determine if the two triangles are congruent by
SAS?
2. How can you determine if the two triangles are congruent by
ASA?
3. How can you determine if the two triangles are congruent by
SSS?
