Physical development
It is physical growth, related with other
developments of body
Growth is rapid
Height : 40-50 cm
Weight : 3-4 kg
Length of arms grow very fast
Milk teeth
Cry to fulfill their needs
Changes during infancy
Cognitive Development
Also called as intellectual/ mental development
• learns from sense organs
• Sensory motor stage ( motor organs are very active)
• Learn new words
• Control eye moments
• Ability to learn
Cognitive development is influenced by nutrirional,emotional
and social factors.
Emotional Development
The new born (infant) has a single generalised
response of excitement only.
According to Watson the child can express only 3
primary emotions ,
Angry - restricting the free bodily movements
Fear - sudden loss of support, harsh sound
Joy - satisfaction of appetites, petting,fondling
Emotional development Sensory motor stage
Moral development
It is puerly based on the behaviour of an
individual.
In infant it is based on the emotional &
intellectual development.
The characteristics includes,
• Limitation is dominant
• Character of acceptance or rejection
• Behave conformity in social expectation
Changes in infant after 6 months
Social Development
The social development includes acquisition of
knowledge skill and abilities
Children’s behaviour is governed by the social
acceptance or rejection
The characteristics includes,
• Confusion : sound of animals and human
• Smile : while giving attention
Up to two years crying and smiling are the dominant
character in every child.
