PERSUASIVE PARAGRAPH

• is a form of writing in which the writer uses words

to convince the reader that the writer's opinion is
correct in regards to an issue.
• In a persuasive paragraph, it’s the writer’s job to
convince the reader to accept a particular point of
view or take a specific action. Persuasive essays
require good research, awareness of the reader’s
biases, and a solid understanding of both sides of
the issue. A good persuasive essay demonstrates not
only why the writer’s opinion is correct, but also
why the opposing view is incorrect.
• Persuasive Paragraph- A persuasive paragraph starts
with a topic sentence, which states an opinion about
something. The body sentences give reasons that
support the opinion, and the closing sentence may
state the opinion in a new way. In the following
paragraph, Willis tells about a favorite school event
and gives reasons why everyone should attend.
HOW TO WRITE A PERSUASIVE
PARAGRAPH?
• State your issue and point of view.
• Use the best arguments & evidence

you have.
• Be logical and consistent.
• Use influential language (power
words, persuasive writing
techniques, transitions).
MODEL PERSUASION PARAGRPAH 1
• A vegetarian diet is not always as healthful as vegetarian claim.
Vegetarians that I know usually eat a lot of fat, which doctors link to
clogged arteries and heart disease. Although my vegetarian friends
avoid fat found in meat, they more than make up for it by eating large
quantities of cheese, which is often about 50 percent fat. They also
favor nuts and seeds, foods high in fat. Vegetarians can eat all the sugar
they want without violating their beliefs. But sugar isn’t healthful, and
the honey that they often substitute isn’t much better. Some doctors
don’t favor a strictly vegetarian diet for pregnant women and babies.
While most people would probably be healthier if they ate less meat
and more vegetables and grains, a vegetarian diet has its pitfalls too.
