PROJECT TITLE JUSTIFICATION

The concept of smart grid has emerged as a convergence of traditional

power system engineering and information and communication technology.
It is expected to be featuring reliable, efficient, flexible, clean, friendly and
secure characteristics. In this Project we propose an efficient and privacy-
preserving aggregation scheme, named EPPA, for smart grid
communications . EPPA utilizes a super-expanding grouping to structure
complex information and encode the organized information by the
homomorphic Paillier cryptosystem method . EPPA also adopts the batch
verification technique to reduce authentication cost . we also tell that EPPA
resists various security threats and preserve user privacy .

OBJECTIVE & SCOPE OF THE PROJECT

The main purpose of data aggregation in a smart grid is to collect total

power consumption data of users in a certain area and protect the
power consumption data of an individual user from leakage.

The main scope of Smart Grid aims to make the use of electricity
reliable, sustainable, scalable, fault-tolerant, and efficient , for the
following process it uses information and communication technologies.
And also there are some issues related to information security threats

TOOLS TO BE USED IN THE PROJECT

A smart grid perspective with all components . The

. communication components of a smart grid can include
wireline and wireless methods such as power line
communication, IEEE 802.15.4 protocol based
technologies, and agent based control mechanisms.

SOCIETAL IMPORTANCE OF THE PROJECT
Smart communities have many examples, such as smart home, smart building, and
smart campus. Smart communities are built on top of smart power supply with
smart grid. In AMI, two-way communication between the utility and the customers
is achieved with the support of information and communication technologies. Smart
meters (SMs) are widely deployed to provide electric utilities with reliable power
services. Based on the data collected, the control center can draw the electricity
consumption profile and then offer dynamic pricing, which allows users to benefit
from by altering their electricity consumption behaviors. For example, some users
will adjust their electricity consumption behaviors if they are aware of the high cost
of electricity at peak demand times.
