WALL SURFACE
A wall is a surface that defines an area that carries a load that
provides security, shelter, soundproofing and decorative purposes.

TYPES OF WALLS IN INTERIOR

PAINT
• Paint is any pigmented liquid, liquefiable, or solid mastic
composition that, after application to a substrate in a thin
layer, converts to a solid film.
MOLDINGS
• Molding is a strip of
material with
various profiles
used to cover
transitions between
surfaces or for
decoration.

Molding Materials :
• Wood
• MDF
• Plaster
• Plastic
FABRIC
• Hanging fabric on walls is quite similar to the process of hanging
wallpaper.

WOOD PANELING
• Wall paneling for a home is majorly for a better decor. They can easily
break up the monotonous wall surface to create inspiring feeling in a room.
• There are two systems of paneling.
1. Decorative Wall Paneling
2. Tile Board Paneling
3. Utility Paneling
4. External Paneling
• It possesses good acoustic insulation and thermal qualities.
• It is free from grouting lines unlike tile claddings, which protect from
gathering dust.
• If in case the surface of the panel is damaged, it can be changed without
any trace of replacement.
• To get a fresh look, the surface of the panels can be sanded down by
removing the unwanted elements.

Wallpaper

• While romantic florals and graphic shapes have made

Mirrors

• The quickest way to make a room appear larger is to

Wall Finishes
They are the finish on a wall that enhances the look and feel. As the
minimalist style of interior design has gained popularity in recent
times the demand for wall finishes has grown alongside. Today’s
homeowners don’t want their homes to look like a home from the
80’s. It is vital to pick the right finish for your walls, as it adds to the
overall aesthetics of your home, and makes plain walls look
stunning.

Different Types Of Wall Finishes


There are more than one type of wall finish available, for you
to choose from to pick a wall finish that matches your style and

Textured Wall Finish

Cement plastered Finish

• It is prepared in the form of mortar with cement, sand


and water in proper proportions and applied on
masonry manually to achieve a smooth finish or sand
faced finish.

Cement Textured Finish

• This is a decorative finish and its mortar is prepared in


cement based material.
• It is applied with sand faced plaster with a trowel and
after that it is coloured with paint.
Plaster of Paris Finish

• Plaster of Paris or simply plaster is a type of


building material based on calcium sulphate
hemihydrates.
• This is a smooth finish achieved by plaster of
Paris generally applied on internal walls.

Gypsum Plaster Finish

• This just like plaster of Paris finish but gypsum


based material is used to prepare mortar.
• It is more durable and finer as compared to
Plaster of Paris Finish.
Laminate Finish

• Laminate comes in various colours and designs. It


comes in the form of sheet and is pasted with fevicol
on Plywood.

Marble Powder Finish

• This is a very smooth finish. The finish looks like Marble


flooring.
• This finish is obtained by mortar of marble powder, white
cement and water. It is applied manually.
TPYES OF MATERIALS USED IN INTERIOR
WALL FINISH
BRICK WALL

• This brick wall is made of bricks and mortar and not


plastered .

• Commonly know as exposed brick wall.

• Exposed brick brings texture, color, and a rustic look to


interior spaces.

STONE WALL

• Stone cladding is a decorative covering made of real or


simulated stone.
.
• Its types are Basalt Stone Wall Cladding, Granite Wall
Cladding, Marble Cladding, Slate Cladding ,
Limestone Cladding.
GLASS WALL

• A Glass Wall is also known as Glass Partition Wall is an interior wall


structure primarily made of glass or of an alternative to glass.

• To form a glass partition, glass panels are paired using metal frames,
channels, or clamps to create custom non-load-bearing walls.

WOOD WALL

• The most popular and commonly used hardwoods for making wooden
walls or wood partitions include oak, maple, mahogany, cherry, walnut,
and teak.

• These woods are good wall material but are quite a bit expensive,
however, the durability & longevity of wood is extremely good.
PLYWOOD WALL

• Plywood can be a beneficial alternative to drywall for walls and ceilings.

• For in case you are planning on redoing or maintaining your walls or


ceilings.

• The reliable materials can be used include Sheetrock or finished


plywood.

CINDER WALL

• Cinder Blocks Wall utilizes Cinder Blocks made of concrete other coal
cinders.

• Pargeting is the traditional way of covering up concrete blocks.

• If not pargeting , you can still improve the look of your wall by painting
it.
METAL WALL

• Though metal Sheet wall is expensive it’s quite durable, which has notable
immense strength.

• Not just durability and strength, it has the vital feature of flexibility in the sense.

• Types of metals used in wall panels are manufactured from steel, aluminum,
copper, zinc and other metals.

LEATHER WALL

• Leather wall is a type of wall used in for wall covering. It is often referred to
as wrought leather.

• It is often gilded and decorated. Leather was used to cover and decorate
sections of walls in the interior spaces.
