• Resources:Any material that satisfies our needs.
• We need to convert raw materials into finished goods.

• The process of making a particular product using

machines in a factory is called an industry.
• To set up an industry raw materials, machines, power
supply, human labour, money and transport are needed.
TYPES OF INDUSTRIES

 Cottage Industries:set up by people in their own homes.

Weaving cloth, extracting oil, grinding flour, making toys,
basket and leather goods.

 Small-scale industries:People work ina small factory.

Make utensils, garments, hosiery items, electrical and
plastic goods.

 Large-scale industries:Employ thousands of workers.

Textile mills, iron and steel plants, automobile and railway
equipments.
 Other important industries-cement, fertilizer, paper,
machinery and chemicals.
