Utp Cable Installing Tools
Installing UTP cabling one skill required of a network technician is terminating UTP cable.
Cable termination means putting RJ-45 plugs on a cable to make a patch cable or punching down cable wires into
terminal blocks on a jack or patch panel.
To create a patch panel, a technician needs the following tools:
Bulk UTP cabling
Wire cutter or electrician’s scissors
Cable stripper
Crimping tool
Cable tester
RJ-45 plugs
TOOLS:
• electrician’s scissors : To cut the network cable of the required length from the bundle. You can
use any standard wire cutter that is specially designed for the twisted-pair cable.
• Cable stripper: this tool is used to remove the outer and inner jackets of the cable.
• Crimping tool: this tool is used to attach the connectors to the cable. Typically, this tool also
include a wire-cutter and wire-stripper.
• Cable tester : it can test cable length, breakings in the cable.it can also check whether the
connectors on the both ends of the cable are properly attached or not.
• RJ-45 plugs:
To terminate cable at an RJ-45 jack or patch panel, you needed the following tools:
RJ-45 jack and patch panel: it contain ports to connect and manage incoming and outgoing ethernet
cables
The quality of the tools needed for cable installation varies considerably, usually according to the
cost.
If you expect to be doing a lot of cable termination ,it pays to invest in high-quality tools,
particularly a cable tester.
If you installing a few cables, it will take less expensive tools and a basic cable tester. However
if you have a cable installation business ,you need a high-quality tools, including cable tester .
