Problem Statement:
Passengers are not satisfied with the basic services given by PR. Even
passengers are deprive from drinking water and toilets. Poor working
conditions and behavior of the union de-motivate the employees.
Objectives of the Research:
 To identify the major problems facing by Pakistan Railway.
 Which factors de-motivate the employees of the Pakistan Railway to
improve?
 To analyze which factors of marketing mix are more important to improve
the image of Pakistan Railway.

Hypothesis of the research:


H0: Passengers are not satisfied with the services of Pakistan Railway.
H1: Passengers are satisfied with the services of Pakistan Railway.

 We use area sampling near Lahore Railway.


 And collect data from respondents on our judgment.

Findings:

 Trains are always overloaded with bunch of people, passengers feel very
difficult to acquire their seats.

 Management problem and corruption is the main cause of railway failure.

 There is no proper check of tickets in Trains.

 Timing schedule is poor because of single track and carelessness of staff.

 Pakistan Railway change the routes of the trains without concern of the
passengers.

 Ticketing and reservation system has many flaws.

 Cleaning measures of Pakistan railway is in its worst condition.

 No quality check on eatables which are available on different stations.


Findings:
 Conditions of signals and security measures are in worst condition.

 Workers are not properly trained and aware with new tools and equipments.

 Role of union is under influence of politics.

 Passengers are not performing there ethical duties.


Recommendations:

 PR railway must have to buy new passengers compartments to minimize


the rush in long routes.

 Before changing the routes and timings of the trains they need to conduct
a research from passengers, then after that they have to take any decision
according to the passengers need.

 Corruption element can minimize only with the way of audits and regular
checks on management and workers.

 PR need to improve and update the reservation system for ticketing, then
automatically work load of employees decrease and efficiency increase which
leads to customer satisfaction.

 PR has no proper oil and coal storage area. Due to this problem they are
not able to buy coal and oil in bulk which increase the cost of fuel and
increase logistic cost.
Recommendations:

 Fresh drinking water is basic right of passengers. For continue supply of


water, PR has to provide generators which not only work for water and power
supply but also useful for smooth office work.

 We recommend them to use GPS tracking system to monitor the activities of


the trains. This will minimize the cost of monitoring and also give guide lines
for asset management technique.

 Rapid tracking and contact system will help them in emergency situation
as well.
Conclusion:

 Passengers and employees both are not satisfied with the


performance of PR. So we accept H0 on the basses of our research.
PR first have to solve their own inner financial flow and then after
that they have to focus on their basic services of the railway which
means basic Product P which is in worst condition.
