2. Isochronal Test
a- True isochronal test
b- modified isochronal test
Flow after flow Test
This type of test starts from a shut-in condition:
a- Normal sequence test is a series of increasing flows
b- Reverse sequence test is a series of decreasing flows
No shut-in time period between each of the flows.
The procedure as follows:
1. Obtain PR with pressure gage or calculate
2. Place and flow the well with choke for 3 or 4 hours at which time
the flowing pressure and the rate are stabilized
3. Obtain 4 different flow rates
4. Plot flow rate vs. (PR2 – Pwf2) on log-log sheet which should be a
straight line
5. Obtain the absolute open flow potential (q when P wf =0) that at PR2
Isochronal Test
• Isochronal implies equal times, Bottom hole pressure gauge
should be used, Surface pressure should be recorded on both the
tubing and annulus along with temperature
• Isochronal test procedure
1. Initial flow +/- 15 min
2. Initial shut in +/- 2 hrs
3. Clean up flow at maximum separator capacity +/- 10 hrs
4. Shut-in period +/- 12 hrs
5. Flow at +/- ¼ maximum rate +/- 6 hrs
6. Shut-in period +/- 9 hrs
7. Flow at +/- ½ maximum rate +/- 6 hrs
8. Shut-in period+/- 9 hrs
9. Flow at +/- ¾ maximum rate +/- 6 hrs
10. Shut-in period 9 hrs
11. Flow at maximum rate +/- 6 hrs
