Historical Fiction Writings

Prompt: What do you think the gazebo would have witnessed on the day that President William
McKinley spoke in the park? Think about the weather, Do you think there were people there? How
many? Was the crowd excited? Was there cheering?
Jackson:Once upon a time it was July 21, 1872 there was a speech by president William Mckinley in the
park at the gazebo. It was raining but everyone had an umbrella so everyone was dry. There were at least
60,000-500,000 people there happy, some mad but mostly happy. Some all cheering. After the speech
everyone went home and had fun. If I were there I'd be bored!
Josiah:I think they were cheering for their president because people think their president is cool. I think the
weather would be cruel there, not everyone has good weather/luck. To Be honest I think there were 70,0000
to 300,000 maybe even 500,000. President McKinley gave a speech at the Gazebo and 500,000 people
were there.
