HAFEEZ CONTRACTOR
• Born in Mumbai 1950, The architect
believes that a company’s beliefs,
visions and values can be
epitomized in a three-dimensional
built form and its interior ambiance.
• His designs are provocative and
unpredictable.
• Hafeez is full of surprising and
revolutionary ideas. His uncanny
ability to change his architectural
style form one commission to the
next is also a significant reason
why his work is sought after by so
many.
• Nevertheless, in two decades of
practice, he has played role in DLF Square Tower Gurgoan, India
shaping the urban built landscape
of the country.
Methodology
• Previously he was more inclined towards
a form based architecture but later on he
designed in a very mathematical manner.
• He solves a design problem in a
mathematical way considering
parameters like site conditions, client’s
requirements, construction methodology
and economics.
• He has no style. He works as client
needs; like if clients want work according
to vaastu then he incorporates that in his
design.
• He doesn’t do many details (but he

• He often acknowledges that

Concepts & Influences
• Le-corbusier & correa’s work was the source of
inspiration during college days and also khareghat- which
he involved initially.
• The extensive use of glass and metallic panels on the
facades conforms to the high tech expression businesses
seek to achieve.

•Location : Tardeo , Mumbai, India
•Storey : 25

•It is a residential development

•The building has a clear concrete used in


construction with sleek & unornamented
form.

•Marble is extensively used in flooring in


the dining, living, bedrooms and
bathrooms
•It consist of 42 tastefully designed 2 & 3
bedroom apartment and penthouse.

•2- bedroom apartments measure 134 sq.


meter
& 3-bedroom apartments are 178 sq.
meter.

•The development has a swimming pool


and health club on the 23rd floor.
ITC Grand Central
•Location : Mumbai, India
•Completion: 2005

•It’s a hotel.
•Story: 35

•Pyramid roof enhance the overall persona


of grandeur.

•This pyramid id derived from the old


construction in Mumbai and derivative from
the high court building in the fort area.

•The strict linear geometry is broken by a


series of terraces, which give a sense of
vitality.

•Lower level of building are elaborately


detailed with human scale in, mind.
•The red brick is extensively used in
building.
Interiors and ground courtyard

• This hotel boasts of a splendid British Colonial architecture


facade that creates a magical charisma of colonial past.
DLF Square Tower
•Location : Gurgoan, India
•Type :Commercial
•It is an idea of modernistic cuboid resting on
white concrete support.

•Hafeez sketched this building on a napkin


in Paris café.

•Material : Aluminum, simple glass , blue


glass, trusses

•Façade with rhythmic patterning minor


fenestration in the concrete cradle adds to the
structure austere charm.

•Roof rising from the ground expresses itself as


a sculptural object and draws attention.

•It is square in plan.


DLF Gateway Tower
•Location : Gurgaon, India

•It is 14 storey building. Seek to create an


aesthetic based on tectonics.

•The Gateway Tower with its dynamic form


based architecture sets the tone for the
pioneering .

•Material: Glass and granite is used extensively


in the building.

•The building is decorated with granite and


glass, in which granite dominates the lower
levels and higher levels are totally wrapped in
glass.

•The stone at lower level response to the tactile


and glass argue with the visual quality.
IIT Hostel, Mumbai

•Location : Mumbai, India


•The hostel is designed in triangular
shaped 14 storied structure with tube like
bridges connecting the blocks.
•The 15 m high bridge which immerged
out of a one building is like a glass tube.
•This sky bridge includes TV launch ,
gym, tennis, music room.
•A dramatic cone is also located in the
center of the complex which gives grand
entrance to cafeteria.
•Whole hostel is composition of voids ,
colors, curved roof and luminescent sky
bridge creates a toy like expression.
INFRASTRUCTURE LEASING & FINANCE
SERVICES
•Location : Bandra Kurla Complex,
Mumbai

•It is elliptical in plan with four


rectangular blocks bolster the
cylindrical tower at corner.

•Its architecture, expressed with a


strong sense of form and scale
venerates the stability and strength
that the finance services stand for

•Dry clad with brushed hammered


granite up to the first five floors in the
ellipsoid structure and rest of with
aluminum and glass

•One highlight of this building is


domed shape sky light atrium which is
inscribed in the ellipsoid structure
