Client: Marie and Todd Henderson

Occupants: Todd is 55, Maire is 52 and they have two children 20 and 24 that are living with them through college. Marie is a
health worker and Todd is a realestate agent. They have two dogs that spend almost all of their time inside.
Special considerations: has an autisic child that is sensitive to light.
Lifestyle: Marie and Todd live casual lifestyle between family and both working full time jobs they want a comfortable relaxing
space to spend with family in after work.
Hobbies: Marie likes to spend her freetime in the outdoors or spending as much time with family as possible. Todd likes to golf
and watch movies when he can.
Space to be designed: living room
Entertaining: They dont entertain as much as they use to mostly just using the space for family interactions.
Daily activities for space: Conversing and watching tv mostly.
Favorite colors: Marie likes warm fall colors like burgundy and Todd likes Mahogany
Room Impressions: comfortable and relaxing
Favorite woods: Marie likes natural woods while Todd prefers darker woods.
Desired style: Both prefer a Rustic contemporary with scandinavian elements
Items to keep: standing lamp
Problem statement:
Marie and Todd feel as though the whole space is very outdated and would like to essentially start fresh. They would like to have
new flooring and a fresh coat of paint on the walls as well as updating some of the fixtures. They would like new furniture; sofas,
tables, tv. They would also like to put in new lighting and have the whole room to be powered by smart electronics. Especially the
lighting so that it can be accommodating for their son but also to be able to watch movies.

Clients
The clients for this project are a married couple moving ready to start relaxing and settling down in life. They
have no special physical needs to be met. However they do have a 24-year-old autistic son who has a sensitivity
to light and sound. So they are in need of specific lights. They also have two dogs that spend most of their time
indoors one a small dog who is elderly and sometimes has a hard time getting around, and a large dog who is
still just a puppy and very energetic. The clients enjoy spending time with family and Watching movies and TV.
They are not huge entertainers but wanna comfortable space for their family to be together.
Design concept
The design concept will follow around comfort. They like a very rustic contemporary design style, I would like to
include a lot of Scandinavian aspects into it as well. To accomplish this design will have a lot of natural elements
exposed words warm comforting colors while still staying sleek and clean.
Color and materials
One of the major things the clients stressed on was the use of wood. Marie prefers natural wood while Todd
prefers darker woods like mahogany or walnut. So this Design will have to find a good balance between natural
and dark woods. However they both agreed that they would like more warm comforting colors like burgundy’s
and tans. However they did also stress that the dogs are allowed on the furniture so The materials for the
furniture will have to be sustainable and reliable.
Space requirements
The clients want to create a room to better suit their families lifestyle. They want a room that they can come
home and relax and spend time with each other in. The main goal is to update the environment and make it a
space for everyone to enjoy.
Functional analysis
The space is very centralized in the home, and has two doorways as well as a stairwell and a big window. It
needs to be able to sit for comfortably and needs to have a TV.

Call floor lamp, potential new lampshade and a good polish to update the look
