▪ Project Name: Construction of minor bridges, toe walls, drain and other miscellaneous works in
connection with diversion of rail line between KM 1200/6-1207/2 between Biaora Rajgarh -
Pachor road section on Guna - Maksi line due to construction of Mohanpura Dam
▪ Reason Of Diversion Line: Mohanpura Irrigation Project is the first such project in the country
that will irrigate fields with pressure. This is the first long pipeline in the country, under this
project costing 3800 crores, the underground canal with the longest pressure pipe will irrigate 1
lakh 35 thousand hectares of land. In the first phase, 25 hectares of rocky land will be irrigated
in Kalipith area. Underground pipe laying work is going on in other areas. Mohanpura Dam is
built on the Nevaj River, 8 km from Rajgarh.
The catchment area intercepted at the dam site is 3726 sq. km. The Mohanpura dam proposes
to provide water for irrigation, domestic and industrial uses. It is proposed to irrigate about 35500 ha
Kharif and 62250 ha of Rabi season.
▪ Cost of the Project: 8 crore.

WORK PROGRESS
My internship began on January 12th, 2022.
When I arrived at the job site, I reported to Mr Shanker Sing (Assistant General Manager) then assigned to me as my supervisor.
During the first week of my internship, I was given structural drawings and I was instructed to study them thoroughly in order to gain a
better understanding of the project. My supervisor then assigned me to the RUB Construction (Major Bridge)When I reported at the
Site Office Area on January 16th, 2022, the initial layout was already been completed, and the excavation was about to start . The
height of RUB was 6.85 meter and the barrel length was 21.300 meter.
1. Layout: Structure shows the plan of its foundation on the ground surface according to its drawings, so that excavation can be
carried out exactly where required and position and orientation of the building is exactly specified according to drawing.
2. Excavation: Excavation is the process of moving earth, rock or other materials with tools, equipment or explosives. It also
includes trenching, wall shafts, tunnelling and underground. It is the preliminary activity of the construction project. As per drawing
and on field.
Excavation Dimension: 22.30*7.2*1.35 = 216.75 cum

3. Sand Filling: A filling refers to a quantity of earthen material such as murrum, soil, rock, aggregate,
shingle, and sand that is placed and compacted in trenches, foundation, and under floors for the
purpose of filling in a hole or depression. The sand which is used for filling shall be clean, free from
dust, organic, and other extraneous matter. It shall not contain more than 5% of clay/silt.
Sand Filling Dimension: 20.50*6.5*.45 = 60 cum. Shuttering : - The next step was the installation
of shuttering after the quality check department completed its inspection.
3. Shuttering: The next step was the installation of shuttering after the Quality Check Department
completed its inspection.
Shuttering is a temporary mould into which concrete is poured to obtain the desired structural
shape on the construction site. Traditional shuttering is fabricated using timber, but it can also be
constructed from steel, glass fibre reinforced plastics, and another material.
4. Pouring of Concrete: The following step was to pour concrete
The concrete of grade M-35 was prepared at site with the help of self loading batching machine and
poured up to the slab bottom of the intended slab above, according to the specifications.
Casting was of 17.25 cum each lift each side. Each lift was of height (1250mm+100mm=1350mm). The
grade of concrete was M-35 The pouring height of concrete was increasing evenly after every lift and the
wall was fully compacted using a Mechanical Vibrators.
After the concrete was poured and vibrated, the lift were examined once more by the Quality Check
Department.
5. De-Shuttering: The next step was De-shuttering.
The De-shuttering period is determined by the concrete's maturity and the ambient temperature. De-
shuttering should not be done until the concrete has reached strength of at least twice the tension to which
it may be exposed when the form work is removed.
De-shuttering of the columns was completed at our site after two days (48 hours) as per IS 456:2000.
The final phase in the process, curing, was done on 10th March, 2022.
To check the quality and strength of concrete.
We have per perform, Concrete Cube test as per IS code:456-2000. We have filled the cube in 3 layers and used
tamping rod of Dia 16mm.
After 48 hour of casting we have open cubed with the help of screwdriver. After taking out from cube mould we have
kept the casted concrete cube in the water tub for 7 days.
Confirming as per IS code we will check the strength of casted cube in multiple of 7.
We have done testing after 7 days,14 days, 21 days, and then at last 28 days.
We have achieved the strength of concrete 98% .
(a) After finishing the complete bridge we will start return wall of the bridge
(b) After Completing 2 lifts of return wall we will start back Filling of wall.
(c) We will start for return wall of structure. After completion of return wall. We will fill filter media for the stone pitching with rubber
masonry just to avoid settlement of stone pitching.
(d) After the completion of bridge we will provide a cushion of 450 mm of blanketing material so that track can be laid successfully .
