The new generation changed into digital
learners, but the traditional world has
metamorphosed into a digital world.

As efforts exerted to go digital in

instruction, we need also go digital in
learning assessment, assessment needs to
conform, not with the literacy of the past
century but in the new literacy of the 21st
century.
Teachers must adopt a new
mindset both for instruction
and evaluation. Evaluation
must be geared to assessment of
essential knowledge and skills
so that learners can function
effectively, productively, and
creatively.

MASS
AMATEURIZATION
“Everyone is
a media
outlet”
“a result of the radical spread of expressive capabilities.”
• A term which implies a mass reach of student
outputs.

• Can be simply put as the contribution from people on

the internet who produce content such as blogs,
videos, music and who have seen success out of this
content, which would be seen as absurd from someone
who went the traditional, educational route. Popular
websites known for being a medium for mass
amateurization would be YouTube, Flickr, Wikipedia
 and WordPress.

mass-amateurization-popularizing-mediocrity/)
• refers to the process whereby the dichotomy
between experts and amateurs is dissolving
and creating a new category of professional
amateurs, also called Pro-Ams.
This will entail inculcating adeptness among
students over media along Publishing, Visual
Creation, Audio-Video Recording, Internet
Web site postings, and Multimedia
productions.

The internet also offers avenues for

publishing creative ouputs and these are the
websites, blogs, wikis, podcasts, and videos.
Relevance and engegement shall be carried
both in the learning process, as well as in the
evaluation schemes of new digital expressions
in learning.
