was hard for me to control the class that is why I requested to

WHAT IS SPEECH?

The expression or the ability to


express thoughts and feelings by
articulate sound.
THE NATURE OF SPEECH
While speech research has often been focused on aspects
with a linguistic function, speech also conveys
necessarily also several kinds of paralinguistic
information: expressive (attitudes and emotions) and
organic (attitudes and emotions).
IMPORTANCE OF SPEECH
1. To Win Over The Crowd

An important skill to have in business and specially in public


relations arena is to have a persuasive skills or the ability to win over
the crowd. Inside and outside the workplace the power of persuasion
can carry you far and it all starts by honing your public speaking
skills.

Mastering public speaking results in an increase of confidence and


with that, a cool and collected presence in front of an audience.
to make a strong case, the ability to speak publicly is not only
important, but essential to make forward strides. For example,
inorder to express why a certain product or idea would be an
interesting topic to an editor of a publication, one must use strong
enough, convincing language to elicit intrigue and curiosity.
1. To Motivate People

A great public speaker attains the power to motivate his or her


audience to do something, stop doing something, change a behavior
or reach objectives. But to carry an idea forward, you must be able to
excite and enliven your peers, employees, co-workers, customers.

Public speakers are leaders who are able to inspire their audience to
work harder to achieve their goals. As a public speaker, your role is
to influence your listeners and create an environment where everyone
walks out ready to roll.
1. To Inform

The ability t inform is one of the most important aspects I public


speaking. From presenting research papers and Powerpoint
presentations in schools to presenting ideas and pitches to your boss
or client, informative public speaking is a vital component of a
successful career across all work fields. Once you have their
attention, a good informative speech sharing your knowledge with an
object to an audience, enhances their understanding and makes them
remember your words

A form of verbal communication which
conveys the message from the sender to
the receiver through the stated word.

In other words, communication with the


help of spoken words.

COMMUNICATION
Oral communication is a two-way process, as it provides
a clear insight about the meaning to a message, and the
message transmitted and the feedback is immediate. We
communicate orally with our family, friends, in meetings,
committees, conferences, over the telephone, radio,
public and etc,.
Oral communication is a dynamic and a systematic
process of sharing meaning and understanding between
the speaker and the audience.

1. Inside a company:

The worker must have a well-defined form of


communication skills to convey a message effectively.
Without this skill an employee can neither speak to his
superiors properly, nor he would be able to speak to his
juniors.

2. Inside Customer Service:

An employee is expected to listen to the customer’s query


and answer the customer accordingly in a convincing
manner.

3. Technical Field:

Sometimes technical knowledge must be translated to


Layman’s terms in a company. This is only possible if the
person has good communication skill.
If a company wants to buy a new product, then it has to
convey the message about the product of the salesmen.
The salesmen may not be interested in the working of the
product; instead, they are more keen in the benefits that
the product is expected to give.

4. Communicating Ideas:

The back-bone of oral communication is the language and


the proper verbal exchanges.

The person must have an idea but if one has difficulty in


expressing hiss thoughts then his idea becomes useless.

3. The messages of the speech should always be good.
4. Use words that audience will not lose interest
5. Be humorous at times
6. Use words that wins over the minds.
