SITUATION:

Earthquake – intensity 7.0


Forced evacuation
while evacuating – may faulty wiring na nagresult sa fire

Prevention
• Identify hazards
• Random Checked Building Structure or Layout
• Build safer structures and earthquake resistant building
• Providing education on earthquake safety
• Check and replace outdated or malfunctioning fuses or circuit breakers

Preparation
• Do Monthly Emergency Drill on Earthquake
• Company need to make an Response Team such as First aiders and Fire Marshalls.
• Company need to address on creating more efficient Evacuation Plan or Area.
• Must have emergency plan on secondary effects of natural emergencies.
• Posting of fire exits and providing fire extinguishers. Smoke alarms and detectors.
• Changes in installation practices that are consistent with the current, accepted installation practices followed by licensed
electricians and other qualified persons.
• Clarification of existing requirements that add minimal new obligations or otherwise permit flexibility in compliance.
• Requirements that do significantly modify electrical system and equipment installation practices or impose new
documentation requirements.

Response
• Must evacuate the entire population of the building upon announcement from the top
management.
• Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) Deputy will guide the staff members to the
Evacuation area and do full checking if all the staff is safe.
• Immediate supervisor head count.
• Inspect and repair outlets and switches
Recovery
• Check yourself and others for injuries. Provide first aid for anyone who needs it.
• Call 9-1-1 for seriously injured people.
• Listen to the response commander in chief for important information and instructions.
• Be careful around broken glass and debris.
• Do not enter damaged buildings or areas.
• Clean up any potentially harmful material spills. Wear proper protective gear.
• When entering buildings, even if they appear safe, use extreme caution.
• Expect aftershocks. Practice Drop, Cover, and Hold On during aftershocks—just like you did during the earthquake.
