NATIONAL ENGINEERING INDUSTRIES LTD.


Founded in the year 1946 by the renowned industrialist, late Shri
B.M. Birla, under the name of "National Bearing Company Limited."

The first bearing was manufactured in 1950 with a modest start of


30,000 bearings in 19 sizes.

The company is now manufacturing nearly 3.8 million bearings per


month in over 500 different sizes

The name of the company was changed in 1958 to "National


Engineering Industries Ltd." retaining its original trade mark NBC.

Has three factories located in Jaipur, Gunsi (Newai), Manesar.

Kogyo Co. Ltd., Japan

 Spherical Roller Bearings (SRB).
 Ball Bearings.

 Cartridge Tapered Roller Bearings (CTRB).
 Steel Balls.
 Large Diameter Bearings (LDB).

Ashok Leyland, Maruti Udyog Limited , Hindustan Motors, Telco, Mahindra
& Mahindra, Escorts, Eicher, Crompton greaves, SPIL, Hero Honda etc.

 Material like hollow pipes for races, wire for the balls, cages are
procured

 MRP is done before for the raw materials

 ERP is used for it

 Aims at that there should not be the shortage of material as well as


over-stocking of the raw materials

 Saves money, stops wastage, assures quality

 Procurement is done in batches based on Fixed Order Quantity

 Every Batch is given a number or tag which reads it day of


procurement and other supplier related details

 If the batch or a part of it is seen to be affected it is scrapped under

Ball Bearing Division:

Consists of 4 main components Inner, outer race, balls &


cage

Cage is outsourced whereas rest 3 are in house


produced by Batch Manufacturing

Taking the case of outer race it has 3 surfaces to be


finished

Human Resources
The plant is run 24x7 so managing the work force is an
important ask ERP is used

The scheduling is done in slots or shifts; Day divided into


three 8 hours shifts

The members of work force allotted has their week off at


different days of the week

This shares the load, rotates the workers, and sequence


the operations done by each of them on a particular day

Maintenance Procedures

Has a ERP module of preventive maintenance

All the equipments are registered in it and all the required


maintenance by the machine is registered in it

It has iterative six day schedule

Also maintenance module for breakdown and shutdown


are also present

A list of all Removable & Replaceable are available in the


ERP
Finished Goods

The bearings that are produced are in batches.

Each batch is color coded with respect to the day or the


shift it has been produced

This is done to stock out the inventory before a certain date


and avoid wastage and spoilage
