ABSTRACT

Nowadays certain actions are taken to improve the level of cleanliness in
the country .People are getting more active in doing all the things possible
to clean their surroundings .Various movements are also started by the
government to increase cleanliness .

We will try to built a system which will notify the corporation to empty the
bin on time .In the system , we will put a sensor on top of the garbage bin
which will detect the total level of garbage inside it according to the total
size of the bin.
ABSTRACT

When the garbage will reach the maximum level, a notification

will be sent to the corporation’s office , then the employees can
take further actions to empty the bin .
This system will help in cleaning the city in a better way. By
using this system people do not have to check all the systems
manually but they will get a notification when the bin will get
filled.
INTRODUCTION

This system is a very innovative system which will help to keep

the cities clean .
The system uses ultrasonic sensor placed over the bins to detect
the garbage level and compare it with the garbage bins depth.
The waste can be either solid , liquid or gaseous.
BLOCK DIAGRAM
DIAGRAM EXPLANATION

Ultrasonic sensor-it measure distances based on transmitting and

receiving ultrasonic signals.
Infrared sensor-it can measures the heat of an object as well as
motion of object.
Moisture sensor-it can measure the moisture content of the
garbage in bin.
EXISTING SYSTEM

In the existing system, the garbage monitoring system is quite

complicated and has many disadvantages. In the existing
system, garbage is collected by corporation, weekly once or by 2
days once. Though the garbage stinks and overflows
the garbage bin and spread over the roads and pollutes the
environment.
PROPOSED SYSTEM

The proposed system is used to give the alert to the worker, if

the garbage is full with the help of GSM. The system detects with
the parameter like distance with the help of ultrasonic sensors. For
this, two sensors are used and both are ultrasonic sensors. Some
predefined values of these sensors are stored in FPGA board.
MERITS

It saves time and money by using smart waste collection bins and systems equipped
with fill level sensors. It reduces infrastructure, operating and maintenance costs up to
30%.

It decreases traffic flow and consecutively noise due to less air pollution as result of
less waste collection vehicles on the roads. This has become possible due to two way
communication between smart dustbins and service operators.

It keeps our surroundings clean and green and free from bad odour of wastes,
emphasizes on healthy environment and keep cities more beautiful.
DEMERITS

System requires more number of waste bins for separate waste collection as per population in the
city. This results into high initial cost due to expensive smart dustbins compare to other methods.

Wireless technologies used in the system such as ZIGBEE and WIFI have shorter range and lower
data speed. In RFID based systems, RFID tags are affected by surrounding metal objects .

It reduces man power requirements which results into increase in un employments for unskilled
people.

Sensor nodes used in the dustbins have limited memory size.
APPLICATIONS

Smart waste management in the city.

Empowered SWACH BHARAT mission.

E-governance based on DIGITAL INDIA.

Reduce environmental pollution.

Real time based cleaning of our cities.
