Definition

Infertility is a disease of the reproductive system. It makes a person unable to


have children. It can affect a man, a woman, or both. Male infertility means that
a man has a problem with his reproductive system. It means you cannot start a
pregnancy with your female partner.
Types of infertility

2 types are disinguished:


 Primary: Absent history of pregnancy in anamnestis
 Secondary: Positive history of one or more previous pregnancies in
anamnesis.
Causes

Male fertility is a complex process. To get


your partner pregnant, the following must
occur:

• Low sperm count


• Poor sperm mobility
• Poor morphology
• Absent of spermiogenesi
Diagnosis

 Diagnosis of infertility encompasses a complex detail and careful of work


which require careful planning and involvement of other specialists.
 Sperm count (semen analysis)
 Blood tests
 Other tests
 Testicular biopsy
Symptons

The main sign of male infertility is the inability to conceive a child. There may
be no other obvious signs or symptoms.

Treatment of male infertility

Procedure:
1. Mature egg is held with specialized holding pipette
2. A very delicate Sharp and hollow needle is used to immobilize and pick up a
single sperm
3. This needle is carefully inserted through the zona (Shell of the egg) and into
the center (cytoplasm) of the egg
4. The sperm is injected into the cytoplasm and the needle is removed
5. The egg is checked the next morning for evidence of normal fertilizantion.
Prevention

Male infertility isn’t always preventable. However, you can try to avoid some
known causes of male infertility. For exemple:

 Don’t Smoke
 Limit or abstain from alcohol
 Steer clear of illicit drugs
 Reduce stress
 Avoid exposure to pesticides, heavy metals and other toxins

artificial insemination, medicines, and surgery.
