The document discusses an LC circuit physics class. It begins with a prayer for the class. It then covers the most essential learning competency of characterizing the properties of an LC circuit, including its stored energy and time-dependent charges, currents and voltages. It describes how an LC circuit works, storing energy between the inductor and capacitor. It discusses the properties of an LC circuit, including its resonance frequency and uses in electronic devices. Formulas for inductive and capacitive reactance are also presented.

Characterize the properties
(stored energy and time- dependence of charges, currents and voltages) of an LC Circuit. (STEM-GP12EM-IVb-8) The LC circuit is a circuit composed of capacitors and inductors and resistor that can generate oscillating current or have a filtering effect, and is also called a resonant circuit, tank circuit, or tuned circuit. Resonance is the result of oscillations in a circuit as stored energy is passed from the inductor to the capacitor. Resonance occurs when XL = XC and the imaginary part of the transfer function is zero. At resonance the impedance of the circuit is equal to the resistance value as Z = R. The LC circuit is used to select or generate a specific frequency signal. The application of LC circuits is reflected in many electronic devices, especially radio devices, such as transmitters, radio receivers and television receivers, amplifiers, oscillators, filters, tuners and frequency mixers. (Application) Properties of an LC Circuit An LC circuit is a closed loop with just two elements: a capacitor and an inductor. It has a resonance property like mechanical systems such as a pendulum or a mass on a spring: there is a special frequency that it likes to oscillate at, and therefore responds strongly to. Energy stored in an LC Circuit The energy stored by the electric field in the capacitor of an LC circuit is given by: (Electrostatic Potential Energy) (t) = Energy stored in an LC Circuit The energy stored by the magnetic field in the inductor in an LC circuit is given by: (Electromagnetic Potential Energy) (t) = Total energy of an LC Circuit Energy varies harmonically between the electric and magnetic fields and the inductor, respectively. Energy varies harmonically between the electric and magnetic fields and the inductor, respectively. Energy varies harmonically between the electric and magnetic fields and the inductor, respectively. FORMULAS Inductive reactance (XL)-is a measure of its effectiveness in resisting the flow of an alternating current by virtue of the self-induced back emf that the changing current causes in it. XL=2 FORMULAS Capacitive reactance (XC)-is similarly a measure of its effectiveness in resisting the flow of an alternating current in this case by virtue of the reverse potential difference across it owing to the accumulation of charge on its plates. No power loss is associated with a capacitor in an ac circuit. XC=Ω) THANK YOU!
