Good Evening Classmates!!!

For today’s report we’re about to tackle “Waste management,

Segregation and Recycled Material”
What is Waste Management?

-Waste management or Waste disposal is all the activities and actions

required to manage waste from its inception to its final disposal. This includes
amongst other things, collection, transport, treatment and disposal of waste
together with monitoring and regulation.
The process of waste management involves treating solid and liquid waste.
During the treatment, it also offers a variety of solutions for recycling items that
aren’t categorized as trash.

The entire idea thus boils down to re-using garbage as a valuable resource
and given our current environmental climate, this process is extremely vital for
all households and businesses.
Types of Waste Management

Recycling

Incineration

Landfill
Recycling

-Recycling is the process of collecting and processing materials

that would otherwise be thrown away as trash and turning them into
new products.
Example of Recyclable Materials:

• P L _ _ T_ _ B _ _ T_ _ S

• C _ _ D B O _ _D _ _ X

• P___R_

• ___SS
Example of Recyclable Materials:

• P LAS T I C B O T T L E S

• CARD B OARD B O X

• PAP E R S

• G LAS S
Landfill

- it is the collection, transportation, disposal and burying of waste in

designated property. Many towns are planning deserted and barren areas to cope
with waste.
a
Incineration

- it is the disposal of waste materials by means of burning. The thermal

treatment is another name for this disposal method.
Benefits of Waste Management:

• Better Environment
• Conserves Energy
• Creates Employment
• Helps Make a Difference

Segregation of Waste

- Waste segregation is the sorting and separation of waste types to facilitate

recycling and correct onward disposal.
Importance Segregation of Waste
- Sorting your waste makes it easier to understand how to reduce your
general waste output, identify items that can be reused and set aside items that
should be recycled. Failing to segregate trade waste properly means that it will
end up mixed in landfills the same way it was mixed in your bins. Waste items
like food scraps, paper and liquid waste can mix and decompose, releasing run-
off into the soil and harmful gas into the atmosphere.
Recycled Materials

- recycled materials or products have been treated using a special industrial

process so that they can be used again.
