CHANGE IN = PHONOLOGY,
MORPHOLOGY, SYNTAX AND
LEXICON.
WILLIAM LABOV, 1966 FOR EXAMPLE.

HE ANALYZED THE change of


PRONOUNCIATION OF [r] in English for
the people in Ney York city and in the island
of Martha Vinyard.
Another example: Tamam (1996) described
the changes that happen at Kampong Anyer
in Brunei. He described that the change for
the intonation of Balandih and for the
pronounciation of [r].
Each Language having changes for some
reasons: because getting any contact with
another language.
Beside that, language changes for the reason
of diglosic situations....
The changes of any language might be
triggered by :)
1. sociolinguistics
and socio cultural of
the society.
2. GAP among the society (Migration, social
status, politic and faith
The effect: 1. Convergency
2. Slang / Jargon
3. new Dialect
4. new language
The process of changes= need a long long
time to get changes.
