PHILOSOPHICAL and
ETHICAL ENVIRONMENT
EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT
It is the place
where learning
takes place.
This environment includes physical facilities
such as buildings and playgrounds,
classrooms, equipment and facilities,
teaching aids and instructional materials.
It also includes people connected with the
school: teachers, administrators, non-
teaching personnel and students.
Teachers are the most important part of the
students’ educational environment.
DIFFERENT ROLES PLAYED BY THE
TEACHER:
The Teacher as a Model
No matter what
the teacher does
intentionally or
unintentionally,
she/he acts as a
model to her
students.
The Teacher as Manager
Management includes
supervising class
activities, giving grades,
planning lessons, and
preparing test. Teacher
also responsible for
setting up the physical
environment most
conducive to learning.
The Teacher as Counselor
It provides
opportunities for
feedbacks and
revision and what is
assessed must be
congruent with
one’s learning
goals.
PHILOSOPHICAL
ENVIRONMENT
It has a long story in
western culture. It can be
traced back to the
teachings of Saint Francis
of Assisi, to literature
works of romanticism
poets and
transcendentalist, such as
Wordsworth and Thoreau,
and to conservation
movements led by
Theodore Roosevelt and
Gifford Pinchot.
PHILOSOPHICAL ENVIRONMENT
It is the discipline in
philosophy that
studies the moral
relationship between
human beings and
nature, as well as the
value and moral status
of the environment
and its non-human
contents.
Environmental philosophy includes in its
scope all the core discourse of philosophy:
Metaphysics – It
concerns existence
and the nature of
things that exist.
Epistemology – study
of the nature, origin,
and limits of human
knowledge.
Aesthetics – concerned
with the nature and
appreciation of beauty
and good taste.
Conservationism
and Conservation
Ethics – Act of
preserving and
protecting what
already exist in
the environment.
Libertarian Extension
Philosophies –
Acknowledge the
rights of human and it
extend these rights to
animals and the
environment.
Anthropocentrism
– It is the principle
that humans
represent the
central and most
important beings in
the world.
