1. INTRODUCTION

A modular building is a prefabricated

building that consists of repeated sections
called modules.[1] Modularity involves
constructing sections away from the building
site, then delivering them to the intended
site. Installation of the prefabricated
sections is completed on site. Prefabricated
sections are sometimes placed using a
crane. The modules can be placed side-by-
side, end-to-end, or stacked, allowing for a
variety of configurations and styles. After
placement, the modules are joined together
using inter-module connections, also known
as inter-connections. The inter-connections
tie the individual modules together to form USES:
the overall building structure.[2] • for long-term, temporary or
permanent facilities, such as
construction camps, schools and

classrooms, civilian and military

housing, and industrial facilities.
• in remote and rural areas where
conventional construction may not be
reasonable or possible.
• to provide temporary facilities,
including toilets and ablutions at
events
2. TYPES OF MODULAR BUILDING According to transport dimensions:
• overall (width up to 2500 mm);
• oversized (width up to 3000 mm)

Typical dimensions for planning in

modular construction:

By construction type:

• office, household;
• warehouses; Types of modules:
• collapsible premises; • 4-sided modules

• premises based on sea containers; • Partially open-sided modules

• change houses for special purposes: • Open-sided (corner-supported) modules
instrument, compressor, switching. • Supported by a primary structural frame
• Non-load bearing modules
By number of floors:
• Mixed modules and planar floor cassettes
• one-story, two-story, three-story. • Special stair or liftmodules.
2. TYPES OF MODULAR BUILDING Example of modular building
components:
by type of construction material:

• Standard, wood-frame construction

(built with standard lumber);
• Steel and concrete construction;
• Wood trusses;
• Drywall or VCG (vinyl-covered gypsum)
interior wall finish;
• Acoustical ceiling (also known as drop
ceiling);
• CPVC, pex, or copper piping/tubing;
• Double-pane glass;
• Solid-core doors;
• Commercial hardware and fixtures;

5. MODULAR BUILDINGS IN THE Modular construction in RK:
today there are positive signals from the market:
WORLD AND IN KAZAKHSTAN • the development of mortgage products;
• the dilapidated housing stock in large cities;
• the process of urbanization.
Therefore, modular technology will play an important
role in the construction of high-quality and fast-built
housing.

Development barriers:
• The construction of production facilities requires
significant initial investments
• Lack of specialists in the field of modular
