in which opposing arguments
are put forward
Oregon Oxford Debate
 permits three to four speakers in both the
affirmative and the negative side. What
makes it distinct from the parliamentary type
of debate is the interpellation right after each
constructive speech. This interpellation is
also called ‘cross-examination,’ hence
Oregon-Oxford debate is sometimes referred
to as ‘Cross-examination debate.’

Constructive Speeches
  refers to the presentation of
arguments, proofs, and evidence by
the first to third speakers of both
teams. It is the chance for both sides
to state and defend the various
aspects of their respective position in
the proposition.
Interpellation
 is the opportunity for the constructive
speaker to ask about the speech of his
match from the opposing team. Done
after a constructive speech, it is
questioning the debater who has just
finished speaking.
 Questions should be answerable by

YES OR NO ONLY.
Rebuttal
 is the summary and defense of each
team’s case, arguments, and evidence.
It is an opportunity to restate your
team’s strong arguments, rebuild
points which have been assailed, and
point out the flaws of the opponent’s
case.

RULES:
1. This debate will be composed of three speakers each
side.
2. Each speaker will be given a minimum of 5 minutes and a
maximum of 7 minutes for their constructive speeches.
3. Each speaker will be given 2 minutes for the interpellation
which questions shall be only answerable by yes or a no.
4. The rebuttalist of the team shall be the first speaker or
the third speaker and shall deliver the rebuttal speech
with the maximum of 5 minutes.
5. The moderator shall be the one to acknowledge the
speakers before the speeches will begin.
6. The time-keeper will be tasked to keep the record of the
time spent by the speakers.
7. There will be three adjudicators in this debate.
RULES:

team will be as follows:
Evidence/s- 30%
Delivery- 25%
Interpellation- 20%
Rebuttal- 25%
9. The adjudicators will have the discretion on who
to choose as the BEST DEBATER and the BEST
SPEAKER.
10. The result of this debate will be final and
irrevocable.
