 Introduction
In a city the expensive energy resource is the lighting system. This
project of Smart Street Light can reduce the energy consumption by
almost 50%.
This system can be installed on light poles, garages, or any other places
where energy consumption has to be reduced.
 Problem statement
The main objective of this project is to save the unwanted consumption
of light. The lights are switched ON only when required. The smart
street light system automatically switches the Lamps based on the
motion sensed by the IR sensor and LDR sensor is used to detect the
intensity of light.

• The Arduino IDE is an open-source software, which is used to write and
upload code to the Arduino boards.
• The IDE application is suitable for different operating systems such as
Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.
 IR sensor
• An infrared (IR) sensor is an electronic device that measures and
detects infrared radiation in its surrounding environment.
• When an object comes close to the sensor, the infrared light from the
LED reflects off of the object and is detected by the receiver.
 ESP8266 Serial Wi-Fi Module
• ESP8266 is a complete and self-contained Wi-Fi network solutions that
can carry software applications, or through Another application

• It is used to enable the internet connection to varies application of

 LDR( light dependent resistor)
• An LDR is a type of variable resistor which changes its resistance
according to the intensity of the light falling on its surface.
•  LDR-sensor which senses the intensity of the surrounding light.
 LED(light-emitting diode)
A light-emitting diode (LED) is an electric component that emits light when
an electric current flows through it. When current passes through an LED,
the electrons recombine with holes emitting light in the process.

• According to its developers, "ThingSpeak is an open-source Internet

of Things (IoT) application and API to store and retrieve data from
things using the HTTP protocol over the Internet or via a Local Area
Network.
• ThingSpeak enables the creation of sensor logging applications,
location tracking applications, and a social network of things with
status updates".
