The SmartBlind stick is a device created to assist blind individuals by detecting obstacles, stairs, elevations, and whether it is day or night. It uses ultrasonic sensors, an LDR module, Bluetooth, and other components. The objective is to allow blind people to walk safely without obstacles. It detects obstacles and elevations, differentiates between day and night, has an emergency button to notify family, and detects humans to prevent collisions. The researchers focused on low-cost, high-accuracy components and ways to measure elevation. The total prototype cost is around 2,900 rupees, making it affordable.

due to the accidents of blind people . But is there anything that can prevent this ? There is a solution – SmartBlind , a stick that works like eyes of a blind persons Objective The objective of this project is to assist the blind person with obstacle free walk when stepping out – be it on roads, malls, or even elevators. The features of SmartBlind Stick are – 1. It can detect obstacles in front of it 2. It can detect stairs and elevated surfaces 3. It can also detect if it is day/night , because the risk of accident is more for a blind person at nights. 4. It also has an emergency button which one pressed gives a notification to the person’s family if the person is in trouble. 5. Detect humans and prevent from hitting them Research Our team researched a lot while making this project . This is what we researched 1. Researching for low-cost , high accuracy components. 2. Researching for ideas to make the stick more compact. 3. Reading papers for ways to measure elevation using ultrasonic sensors . Components Used HC-SR04 Ultrasonic Sensor ( To detect obstacles and elevations ) LDR Module ( To detect day /night depending on the light intensity ) HC-05 Bluetooth Module (Uses Bluetooth -2.0 technology to connect to a Bluetooth enabled device ) ISD 1820 Voice Recording Module ( Used to record the voice message which is played on a speaker ) Piezo Buzzer Push Button ( Alarm tone if elevation or ( Working as emergency button to night time is detected ) send panic message to the family ) Arduino Uno PIR MOTION SENSOR 5 WATT SPEAKER Resistors and LED’s Softwares Used

An affordable stick as a life saver for a blind person! Cost The prototype costs around 2200 rupees , and with the stick the cost is 2500 rupees. With such a minimal cost anyone can afford it !
