01 What is ocean?
An ocean is a huge body of salt water. Oceans cover nearly 70 percent o
Earth's surface. They contain almost 98 percent of all the water on Earth.

The term 'ocean' comes from the Latin word “ōkeanos” which
translates to the “great stream encircling the earth's disc”. This was used
by the Greeks to describe the single mass of water that they believed
surrounded the earth.
02 What are the 5 part of ocean in the world

• Pacific ocean
• Atlantic ocean
• Indian ocean
• Antartic ocean
• Artic ocean
03 What are the three zones based on depth.

• Photic zone
• Aphotic zone
• Benthic zone
The three zones based on the distance from
04 the shore.

• Intertidal Zone
• Nordic Zone
• Oceanic Zone
05. Features of the ocean

Intertidal or Littoral – located from high tide to low tide areas.

Continental shelf – located from low tide to the edge of the shelf.

Continental slope – where the ocean bottom slopes steeply to

the ocean floor.

Abyssal plane – the 'bottom' of the ocean where it is relatively

flat.

What's in the water?

What are the thing that are
dissolved and contained inside
the water?
First, we will ve talking about the salinity of ocean
water.
Why is the ocean salty?

What is salinity?

What factors change salinity?

What is the difference between seas and oceans?

HOW MUCH SALT IS INWATER?
DOES THE SALINITY OF OCEANS EVER CHANGE?
The salinity of ocean can inctease due to

•Evaporation
•Freezing

The salinity of ocean can decrease due to

•Rainfall
•melting ice
