THE STUDENTS OF PANGASINAN
STATE UNIVERSITY, BAYAMBANG
CAMPUS

Background of the Study
◦ Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

◦ Most people who fall sick with COVID-19 will experience mild to moderate symptoms and
recover without special treatment. However, some will become seriously ill and require
medical attention.

◦ The virus can spread from an infected person’s mouth or nose in small liquid particles when
they cough, sneeze, speak, sing or breathe. These particles range from larger respiratory
droplets to smaller aerosols.
Background of the Study
◦ You can be infected by breathing in the virus if you are near someone who has COVID-19, or
by touching a contaminated surface and then your eyes, nose or mouth. The virus spreads
more easily indoors and in crowded settings because of this kind of virus, a government
decided to lockdown the whole country to stop the spreading of these kind of virus. And also
COVID-19 pandemic has completely reshaped higher education, with campus shut downs,
shifts to remote learning, and curtailed campus life. These drastic and abrupt changes have
created challenges that can threaten the mental health and well-being of college students.
Some empirical work has revealed that the COVID 19 pandemic elicited substantial negative
effects on the students’ health.
Background of the Study
◦ The aim of this study is to collect data and information and to know how these kind of problem have
overcome by the students in the University, and how they faced it in times of lockdown.

◦ To achieve this, survey and questionnaires need to distributes in first year college students up to fourth
year college student to collect data and information about the study.
Statement of the Problem
This study aims to collect data and information and to know how these kind of problem have overcome by
the students in the University, and how they faced it in times of lockdown.

This study aim to answer the following question:


Have you felt difficult in sleep at night and getting rest during pandemic?
Have you felt anxiety and depression during pandemic?
1. Have you tried to imagined, to stop your studies and not pursuing it because of the pandemic?
2. Try to rate yourselves 1-10, how you get struggled for pursuing and keep fighting for you studies?
3. Did you try to give up in you life because of anxiety and depression that you have?

Background of the Study
The social trends and media effect on the youth found that greater social media use, nighttime
social media use, and emotional investment in social media such as feeling upset when
prevented from logging on were each linked to worse sleep quality and higher levels of
depression. Most social media content creators face cyberbullying, threats, and trolling.
◦ People, who are used to harassing others online tend to develop more violent behavior. Some
people, especially teens suffer from anxiety and depression when they face cyber-bullying
friend social skills are additional areas in which the impact of social media o youth is both
positive and negative. In the pew research center report, 81 percent of teens in the survey said
social media makes them feel more connected to what’s going on with their friends .
Background of the Study
◦ There are two main theoretical explanations for why media can influence people’s behavior. First of all,
it can change their beliefs by providing relevant information. Second, it can have a direct effect on
behavior, independently of people’s information through persuasion.
Statement of the Problem
This study is to collect data on current trends in social media to the social behavior of the youth and know how
this kind of problem has been overcome by the youth.
This study aims to answer the following question:
1. How does social media affect youth social behavior?
2. What are the factors that affect the social behavior of the youth?

3. What are the influences of current trends on social behavior of the youth with regards to:
a) Emotional Health
b) Mental Health
c) Physicall Health
d) Spiritual Health

Background of the Study
◦ Culture has the power to transform entire societies, strengthen local
communities and forge a sense of identity and belonging for people of all ages.
As a vector for youth development and civic engagement, culture plays an
essential role in promoting sustainable social and economic development for
future generations. Youth can act as a bridge between cultures and serve as key
agents in promoting peace and intercultural understanding. (Youth and Culture
Development)
Background of the Study
◦ Investing in local cultural resources including tangible and intangible heritage
including traditional knowledge and skills, as well as music, dance, theatre and
festivals, can develop sustainable creative economies, open up opportunities to
youth, and help strengthen identity and social cohesion. Promoting creativity
for and among youth and harnessing young people’s creative potential and
energy therefore needs to be a priority in finding creative solutions to today’s
challenges. ( Youth and Culture Development )
Background of the Study
The aim of this study it to encourage the students of Pangasinan State
University, Bayambang Campus to engage social activities in the community to
become more productive and well-mannered individuals.
◦ To achieve this, survey questionnaire will distribute through Google Forms to
the students of Pangasinan State University, Bayambang Campus.
Statement of the Problem
This study aims to collect data and information and to know how these kinds of social and cultural
activities in the community and to become more productive.
◦ This study aims to answer the following questions:

1. Do you participate in many social activities with your fellow students?


2. How often do you attend cultural events in your community?
3. Is there enough opportunity to practice or support sports in your area?
4. How would you improve or encourage social and cultural activities in your area?
