segment of the Indian consumer market. Headquartered in Mumbai. The company operates over 16 million square feet of retail space. Has over 1000 stores across 73 cities in India. Employs over 30,000 people.

1987- Company incorporated as Manz Wear Private Limited. Launch of pantaloos trouser,India s first formal trouser brand. 1994- The Pantaloons Shoppe- exclusive mens wear store in franchise format launched across the nation. 1997- Company enters modern retail with the launch of the first 8000 square feet store,pantaloons in Kolkata. 2001-Three big bazaar stores launched within a spanof 22 days in Kolkata, Bangalore & Hyderabad.

2002- Food bazaar ,the supermarket chain is launched. 2004- Central-India s first seamless mall is launched in Bangalore.

Pantaloons is on an expansion spree. The company plans to double the number of pantaloons stores over the next three years. At present,Pantaloon Retail owns and operates 50 stores across the country and expects to open another 50 Pantaloons stores over the next three years. The new stores, spread across 25,000 to 35,000 sq ft, would be trendier in style and designed to appeal the young buyers.
