Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron received positive reviews from critics praising its animation and cinematic feel. It tells the story of a wild stallion captured by humans that struggles to resist training while refusing to lose hope of returning home to his herd. The film is directed by Kelly Asbury and Lorna Cook with a screenplay by John Fusco. It uses body language and sounds rather than anthropomorphism to portray animal communication. The document writer saw the film as a child and was moved by Spirit's adventures and strong will to return home, seeing home as where loved ones are rather than loneliness. They have seen it four times and were inspired to draw characters from the movie.

Lucker (co-writer) POSTERS TRAILER CRITIC’S REVIEWS Seattle Post-Intelligencer William Arnold “It's an extraordinary feat of animation, possibly the most lovingly conceived, uncompromisingly executed and totally successful animated film since "The Lion King." “ Washington Post Desson Thomson “The movie's big action scenes, at times, make you forget you're even watching animation. There's an in-your-face sequence involving a runaway, crashing train that will make you squirm in your seat trying to get out of the way.” Philadelphia Inquirer Steven Rea “A cartoon that's truly cinematic in scope, and a story that's compelling and heartfelt - even if the heart belongs to a big, four-legged herbivore.” SOME INFORMATION ABOUT THE FILM Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron (also known as Spirit) is a 2002 American animated adventure film produced by DreamWorks Animation and distributed by DreamWorks Pictures. The film was directed by Kelly Asbury and Lorna Cook from a screenplay by John Fusco. In contrast to the way animals are portrayed in an anthropomorphic style in other animated features, Spirit and his fellow horses communicate with each other through sounds and body language like real horses. MY PERSONAL OPINION ABOUT THE FILM “Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron” is an animated movie in which a wild stallion is captured by humans and slowly loses the will to resist training, yet, throughout his struggles for freedom, the stallion refuses to let go of the hope of one day returning home to his herd. I saw this movie for the first time around five or six years ago and I instantly fell in love with it, not only because it has horses in it, but also the story moved me. I enjoyed watching Spirit’s adventures on his way back home. The ups and downs had me feeling a wide range of emotions. Spirit's strong will to return home, showed us that home is where you are near the loved ones and your family, not in a place where you feel lonely and surrounded by unknown faces. So far, I’ve seen the movie 4 times. I liked the movie so much that I drew the main characters of the film, Spirit an Rain. DRAWINGS INSPIRED BY THE MOVIE THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION!
