Introduction

 Dent pulling works by welding a copper stud or
tab to any dented panel and then using a slide
hammer to attach to it and pull the dent out
 One advantage is that it is more cost friendly
 A disadvantage is that sometimes it is difficult to
pull dents in certain areas of the car
What is dent pulling
 When you bring your car in
the shop for it to get fixed,
the technicians will use
either a stud gun or a panel
beater. Pulling a dent is just
working the metal that got
crushed close to where it
use to be.
How pulling dents works
 Dent pulling works by using a tool called a stud gun that welds a copper stud or tab
to the panel of the car, then you use a slide hammer that has teeth to grab on to the
stud or uses a hook that attaches to the tab
 After securing the slide hammer to the stud you want to pull until the surface is flat
 If the dent is pulled to much you will get a high spot
 If you do get a high spot, you can use a smooth and polished hammer with a
dolly to flatten the surface

Advantages

 Cost- it is much cheaper to pull a dent in a

panel rather than to replace the panel
 Effort- sometimes it is much easier to just
pull a dent rather than take apart a panel to
replace it
Challenges
 Working the metal too much causing it to
stretch.
 Pulling too far and having high spots
 Welding the stud for the right duration of time
 Not pulling the metal far enough
 Getting the metal too hot a warping it
