Age of
Gestation
 The common term used during pregnancy to describe how far along the
pregnancy is.
 It is measured in weeks, from the first day of the woman’s last menstrual
period up to the current date
 A normal pregnancy can range from 38 t0 42 weeks .
 Infants born before 37 weeks are considered premature.
How to compute for Age of Gestation

 Determine the LMP

 Take note of the date of the prenatal visit
 Add up the number of days for all succeeding months until the day of Last
Clinic Visit
 And then divided by 7
Example:
 LMP= February 27, 2021
Deduct number of days of LMP to number of days in the month of LMP(28-
27=1)
Februar 1
y March 31
April 30
May 31
June 30
October 30 (Last Clinic Visit)Sum total 153
days
 To get number of weeks, divide the sum total with 7 using the long computation
method.
The remainder serves as the days.
 So,153 divided by 7 would give us 21 weeks and 6 days, approximately.
Example:

LMP= July 25, 2021

Last clinic visit: October 23, 2021
July has 31 days, so 31-25 (from LMP day)= 6

July 6
August 31
September 30
October 31
98 ÷ 7 = 14 weeks
Practice Question:

 LMP= March 31, 2021

 Clinic visit: October 24, 2021
Answer:
April 30
May 31
June 30
July 31
August 31
Sept 30
Oct 24
207 ÷ 7 = 29 weeks and 4 days
29/4 weeks
Practice Question:

LMP= August 22, 2021

Last clinic visit: November 17, 2021
Answer:

August 31-August 22= 9

August 9
September 30
October 31
November 17

87 ÷ 7 = 12 weeks and 3 days

12/3 weeks
Practice Question:

LMP= January 31, 2021

Last clinic visit: November 9, 2021
Answer:
January 31-January 31 = 0

February 28
March 31
April 30
May 31
June 30
July 31
August 31
September 30
October 31
November 9
282 ÷ 7 = 40 weeks and 2 days
40/2 weeks
