Main Features:
Frequency converter operation - Power converter
is required for smooth operation with sinusoidal
current
Simple and robust rotor construction - the rotor
has a plain structure since it only consists of
punched laminated electrical steel sheets stacked
together, without cage or magnets
Cool operation – There are no rotor currents
which means that it operates at low temperature,
increasing motor life-cycle and the reliability of
the bearing system
No magnets - Low production costs since rare earth
materials are not used. No problem of magnets
demagnetization.
Easier maintenance due to the absence of magnetic
forces.
Low inertia - Due to the lack of a cage and magnets,
the rotor inertia is also smaller, enabling faster
operating cycles and further benefits in energy
efficiency
Low power factor – Due to the rotor magnetization,
the SynRM power factor is low.
Construction
The reluctance motor has basically two main
parts called stator and rotor.
The stator has a laminated construction,
made up of stampings.
The stampings are slotted on its periphery to
carry the winding called stator winding. The
stator carries only one winding.
This is excited by single phase a.c. supply. The
laminated construction keeps iron losses to
minimum
